Day 1266 - 1283
Colin and Chelsey have moved into their new house, and are getting sorted out. They took some days off to move, and were pretty tired at the end of it. Colin was chatting with me about how much stuff they had acquired over the space of 5 or 6 years. He stopped and looked at me and said, "You're in trouble!" I guess I know that.
Glenn is still fascinated by the way things work. He will still try to take apart anything. I have tossed more electronic things in pieces than most I think.... He decided to start sorting through the "junk" drawers in the kitchen, and has a box of garbage. I haven't decided if I'm going to go through it myself, maybe it will be better tossed than saved and moved. I'll see how I feel next week. We have packed a few things, and Glenn is deciding which laptops to keep for parts. That is going to be a big trip to SARCAN.
We visited FCC last week, it was nice to catch up with the people there. They always come out to see Glenn if they are not busy at the phones. Glenn likes to point out program problems if he can just to keep them on their toes I guess.
He fell last week, I didn't see him right away. He was there for a few minutes, and was pretty well snoozing in the sun when I saw him. I was mowing grass, and couldn't catch his attention, so I didn't know right away if he was OK. I yelled at him when I got closer, and made him jump, so I knew he hadn't knocked himself out anyway.. I couldn't get him up, and had to call someone to come and help me. I had been rolling around fixing the lawn mower, (that's another story!) so was feeling the effects of that. He was fine, just grazed his forehead a bit, and got a sunburn on his nose.
We have run into a few glitches with the house, but have so far managed to substitute what was missing with other material. The garage has the dry wall installed in the ceiling, so we can get Dale to install the door now. Once that is closed in, we can put a bit of stuff in there for storage. It won't be long until we move, the plumbers have to come to get the house to work, and the furnace needs to be hooked up I guess. The lights are nice to have now, and the cabinets and floors look good. Just the big job of moving coming ever closer!
'Til next time,
Louise

July 6 - August 10
Day 1231 - 1266
Sorry, I can't believe it's been so long, but we have been occupied. Chris came back to work, the houses are coming along nicely, we went to a wedding, attended the store's 75th Anniversary party, etc, etc. How can you tell it is summer? The most significant change is that Glenn is more willing to attend these events, and as he is out and about, more people lose their inhibitions around him, and realize he is as goofy as ever. He usually has people laughing soon enough, and that is the real ice breaker.
He did scare Chris and me very badly on the 12th of July, as a piece of wiener slid down his throat, and he choked. He actually passed out, and I had to put him on the floor to huff the thing out of his throat. He came to and wondered how he got down on the floor. Chris had been on the phone for 911, but we both realized they would have taken too long to get to us, so we were lucky this time. Thank goodness for a few first aid courses we took when we were driving bus, I sort of knew I had to get that out, and compression was the only way. I had tried to get it out by putting my fingers in his mouth, but he bit me so hard I couldn't do anything more.
There, I won't talk about that again, we were pretty shell shocked, and supper was not finished by any of us. Now we cut his wieners in half, and try not to distract him when he is eating.
We managed to go camping last week and were happy to have a good stretch of weather. In fact, we fried, so that is amazing for this year. I realized that I can't do it without help, but Wendy came, and the kids stopped by, so we did OK. It was good to get away, even though it is a whole new bit of work. We bought a tankless water heater for the camper, and it works very well. Glenn and Chris figured out how to hook it up, and we were happy to be able to run hot water for dishes right into the sink. Luxury!
I could babble on, but the houses are waiting for finishing, and we are not very good at waiting. The kids would really like to move, and are a bit more impatient than we are, but they have a bunch of new stuff to play with, I have a bunch of old stuff to sort through, which probably makes a big difference. We'll let you know when the big event happens.
