Day 179,180,181,182,183,&184
I'm on the verge of a pile of forms again. It has to do with care for Glenn in the transition, the programs we may be able to use require that forms be filled out and submitted. Then we wait to see if we are accepted or not. In the mean time we need to be assured that Glenn is safe where ever he is. It is a form filled world out there! The paperwork is truly staggering, and I have the help of a social worker to pick and choose what to apply for. I will keep you informed as Glenn's release date draws near. In the mean time, he will be home again this weekend, so we will work on a few more home skills and polish up the ones we've already tried. He spoke quite clearly on Monday night, one sentence, which came out clear as a bell. We both stopped and marveled at the ease with which it slipped out, and are encouraged with this sign of progress. Just when you think perhaps we are slowing down a bit, there comes an awesome sign. He is being encouraged to use his right hand more and more all the time, and I see that is taking a fair bit of concentration, but there is improvement.
Thank-you for your input on the SUV vs. mini-van contest. I am researching them both, and of course find good and bad in both, so it will ultimately be what I can find that I like for the right price. They think Glenn may have his power chair next week, which will help in that I will have dimensions to work with. I'm not holding my breath, but it looks pretty promising, as long as there are no tie ups. I'll have to take Glenn along, and see if transferring into one is better than into another, so there are a lot of factors to consider. I hope I can find a red one!
I took a bit of time off this week. Last week was very full, so I decided I needed to get my head back on straight. A bit of housework is good for that, so I cleaned, and worked away at the garbage. I hadn't burned for a while, so after the rain on the weekend, I thought it would be OK to get rid of some. Of course the wind picked up and caused me some concern, but all was well, and I am a bit more sanitary than a few days ago! I hate that job! I did a fair bit of laundry too, so I think I am a bit more in control of the household. That won't last too long, but it did help the head straightening!
Dale bought a Geo, or rather Suzuki Swift, so he has joined the ranks of the Mitchell Geo drivers. He was pleased to inform me that he had only spent $33.00 to fill it and he was hoping to drive to and from work for 2 weeks on that. If he can, he says it will save him $90.00! That will sure pay for the car in a hurry!
Jackie starts school in 11 days, and is getting excited. Her RESP money arrived in time, so she is ready to get school supplies, and get going to class. I hope she likes it.
That's about all the news for now, no birthdays here now for a while, Mom and Dad are home safe and sound, and have a few good stories to tell about the cruise. I'm putting in an extra day tomorrow(Friday) so don't call me, 'cause I'm at work!
'Til next time,
Louise

Hi Louise and family,
Thank you for continuing to post. We check regularly and are very happy to hear of the progress.

Hi Louise:
Please tell Glenn that we started to harvest tomatoes on Tuesday and despite the drought here in SW Ontario, yields are satisfactory. My trucks are tomato red, so I too hope that you can find a red vehicle that suits you & Glenn.
Sincerely as always
Lloyd
Good Day from Fort McMurray! Skies are cloudy but no rain (good thing because Edmonton was rained out last night) much to Mr Mennies disappointment. He was there for the double header featuring the World of Outlaws - car racing. It is a new sport that he picked up interest in from our time in Estevan. He is on his way home on his bike - no GEO for him, I think he gets 55 miles to the gallon - Yamaha Roadstar - but... he gets to wear a yellow rain suit.
So glad to hear that Glenn is progressing at a impressive rate. Moving his right hand, transferring, speaking easily - all within months and a lot of hard work and sheer determination. That is the Mitchell in him.
I am rooting for whichever vehicle suits your needs more. Yes, and make sure the company is able to get you a RED one, you will be using it all the time so you should like the colour.
I hope that work is not playing you out, it is that time of the year when fuel and billings are in full force.
Congratulations to Jackie for going to school, what is she taking? What is Dale doing these days? Colin, how goes the job, is it electrician or have I got my wires crossed? Chris, hope all is well for you and your wife and new puppy.
Take Care of yourself Louise, do not be to hard on yourself. It does not matter how fast you go and get everything done, even if you miss some stuff time just marches on.
Hugs, Love and Prayers - Tim & Brenda Mennie & Garfield
