Day 1018 - 1045
Wow! What a month! Now it is the start of a new decade, and I don't even know where to start! I can't believe it's been so long since we posted, but we have been busy, both at home and at work. Glenn has decided to do more standing, and is standing at the bathroom sink to wash his hands. He leans his head against the mirror, but the extension of his right arm is great. He is helping more around the house, and has made coffee by himself, something he didn't do before because I keep the coffee in the cupboard. He has both stood to reach it, and has also used the "reacher". It is a great treat for me, let me tell you.
We went to the dentist for a cleaning and check up and they referred Glenn to an oral surgeon for a consultation about extracting his wisdom teeth. That took some time, and the surgeon suggested we wait and watch for a while. OK, I'm good with that. We go a couple of times to see the regular dentist for fillings, so we'll see how that goes for him. Jackie is happy.
We also did Christmas shopping together a few times, which is both good and hard work, but back to a more normal setup. The more we do the more we can do. The weather was an issue, but finally warmed up a bit before Christmas, and we kept our appointments.
Glenn was also scheduled to see the cardiologist on the 16th. He had both an ECG and an ultra sound done to see if his heart is recovering. It was enlarged as a result of the arrhythmia, but the doctor hopes that the medication is keeping him in normal sinus rhythm enough for his heart to recover. We haven't received the results yet, but should now that Christmas is over.
In the meantime, we have got cement in the footing forms. The guys were ready to pour on the 23rd, but Nature sent us a bit of snow that day (between 8 and 10 inches!), so they canceled the trucks and had it poured on the 29th, which was a nicer day. They have it tarped and ran heaters for a few days to let it set up. Apparently they add an accelerant to it, and are quite sure it will be fine. Talk about delays!
Colin and Chelsey's house has walls and the inside partitions are in place. Everything has shut down for the holidays, I expect they will be back Monday if the weather is fit.
We had Christmas Eve supper with the kids and Glenn's Mom. Christmas day was more quiet than usual, and I took a picture of everyone sleeping on the floor in my living room (Glenn was in his recliner!) We spent Christmas night at my parents with quite a few of the cousins there, and we exchanged gifts in the grab bag style we enjoy. We were all mixed up as far as what day it was, so it is OK to be at work, it should help get things straight again!
With that, I wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year, and we will keep up as best we can!
'Til next time,
Louise
