Day 1169-1193
Sorry for not posting, I have been emailing family and friends instead, so this is a bit of a catch -up post of the month. I didn't mean to leave it so long, but events made it so.
Christopher ended up in hospital for 2 weeks this month. He had been ill and off work for a week, but started back with the idea that moving around would help him shake off his cold. He had a 10 day prescription for antibiotics, Prednosone, and a puffer. He hadn't been sleeping well, and looked pale. He was going to go back to see the doctor when life took over, or perhaps it was the hand of God. Anyway, on Tuesday the 11th, he was done for the day and was driving back to the store, when the road shoulder gave out and started to pull him into the ditch. He bumped over an approach, and the truck flipped onto its side. He was able to get out, and the other driver was there in minutes to call for help. They took Chris to the Fort hospital to check for broken bones and to look at his bumps. They discovered his right lung to be 2/3 full of fluid. They kept him over night in the Fort and sent him to Pasqua Hospital where they started to drain his lung on Thursday the 13th. They discovered his lung was collapsing, and decided surgery would be necessary to get it working properly. On Tuesday the 18th, he was transferred to the General Hospital. Surgery was performed on Thursday the 20th. His lung had been sick for so long that a thick layer had formed on the outside which was preventing it from inflating properly. He had drain tubes out the side until Tuesday the 25th, when they were pulled and he was released. The bug was a slow growing, nasty bacteria, which is fairly rare. I don't think it is too infectious, because they never made us cap and gown up when we visited. He is pale yet, but glad to be home. They have to watch the wounds, and he has antibiotics for 6 months, which I have never heard of before. He is not supposed to drive for 5 weeks, and we are counting our lucky stars that it was found when it was.
Poor Glenn has been by himself quite a bit, as I helped at the store while the other two drove truck. This has benefits too, he has done more house work, and started to work on getting on his feet. I have told him to be safe first, but it is good to see him take some control of rehab. We have been bouncing around between worry and excitement, the wedding is next weekend. I think we are more excited and less worried right now, and hopefully we will have a "normal" before wedding week!
'Til next time,
Louise

And a normal week would be...??!!
Sounds like Chris is on the good end of mending. Yay!
The wedding is exciting. Everyone there and official family. Yay!
It has good that Glenn has been able to do some more things. Both spiritually and physically.
See you soon. M.
